About Us

The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Varanasi, is a state-level resource centre dedicated to the comprehensive rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PwDs). Functioning under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, CRC Varanasi operates under the administrative control of PDUNIPPD, New Delhi. Operational since July 2025, the Centre currently functions from a rent-free temporary facility provided by the Uttar Pradesh government at Amravati Purushottam Bahuuddeshiya Divyang Vikas Sansthan, Kushipur, Varanasi. CRC Varanasi offers a wide range of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, special education, language and speech therapy, hearing screening, prosthetic and orthotic support, Indian Sign Language interpretation and training, and the distribution of aids and appliances for Divyangjan and senior citizens. The Centre actively collaborates with state authorities, NGOs, and academic institutions to provide technical support and capacity building through faculty development initiatives. Regular Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programs are conducted to enhance the competencies of rehabilitation professionals, with 2 programs completed and 14 more scheduled for the 2025–2026 session. Additionally, CRC Varanasi engages in extensive outreach and awareness activities, including participation in community events like Jan Chaupals and initiatives such as special movie screenings for PwDs.
